The FIA has agreed in principle to further evolutionary changes to the Formula 1 regulations, with more adjustments on the way following the Miami Grand Prix package.

Formula One bosses have responded to the criticism of this season's power unit modifications by agreeing to "further evolutionary changes" before a revamp for the 2027 season, the FIA announced on Friday.

The last time V8 engines were used in F1 was in the 2013 season, before the sport switched to hybrid V6 power units.

"I'm targeting 2030. One year before the maturity [of the regulations]. It will happen."

The brand may be using Ferrari powertrains through 2029, but it's hard at work behind closed doors on what comes next.

Expected with anything between 2.6 and 3.0 liters to its name, the naturally aspirated V8 hybrid power unit could make around 1,200 horsepower
