I was recently interviewed about a German article suggesting that biologic therapy for psoriasis increases healthcare costs because of laboratory monitoring. What the data actually show is different. In large German claims analyses, annual lab monitoring costs averaged ~€58 per patient on biologics versus ~€24 for non-biologic systemic therapies—a difference of about €30–35 per year.
