Here’s an example of a really nice parking lot rain garden / water retention basin. This one utilized native plants and good engineering to capture rainwater and stormwater runoff from the surrounding impervious lots. This rain garden helps reduce flooding by slowing the water going to the sewers and allowing a lot of water to sink into the ground. The roots of the plants also helps reduce pollutants.
